In today's lesson, 7K made a Traditional Fruit Salad and we were again in pairs (which was lucky as the ingredients and whole fruit salad served 2).

The ingredients needed for a Traditional Fruit Salad are;

  • 1/4 pineapple, peeled, chopped
  • 1/4 rockmelon, peeled, chopped
  • 6 strawberries
  • Small bunch seedless red grapes
  • 2 passionfruit, halved
  • 1 orange
  • 1 apples
  • 1 kiwi fruit
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 banana
Although these were the ingredients listed you could choose not to use some or to get more of a few - and this is exactly what Caitlin and I did - we used more strawberries, kiwi fruit, passionfruit and apple and didn't use rock melon or banana.

This was also a fairly free and open meal to make as you could do things in whichever order satisfied you, with the help from a few basic guidelines, such as;

  • Toss the apple and banana in lemon juice to prevent browning
  • Do not cut the grapes or else they will become quite flavourless with time and the juice with spread throughout the salad.
Overall I felt quit satisfied with the way Caitlin and I prepared, used the kitchen utensils and food well and appropriately and the way we tidied up at the end. This was also a fantastic meal to eat as I felt that all the different fruits complemented each other quite nicely and everything was very fresh.
